Miles driven: 1,296. Hours to complete: 42. Amount of sleep: 0.

The 40th Annual Baja 1000 is over. And it was tougher than ever: A grueling course that began in Ensenada, Mexico and ended an exhausting 1,296 miles later in Cabo San Lucas. Dan Fresh piloted the same Mitsubishi Raider truck that scored a narrow (33 second) class victory in the 2006 race.

Mitsubishi Motors wants to congratulate Dan Fresh and his team for completing this arduous off-road race in an impressive 41 hours and 48 minutes. Dan was the only solo driver during this race. Said Fresh, "We really focused on improving the suspension performance to improve speed over some of the rougher terrain, and to be able to use larger tires than last year. This will help us move better through some of the ruts that weather and the Trophy class trucks will have carved."

As a testament to the Raider's toughness, the only major service required throughout the two days was changing out a ball joint. And that was just as a precaution.

Below are some of the changes that were made to the Mitsubishi Raider truck that ran this year's Baja 1000.
